circa 1854, with 27 3/4in. octagonal hinged sighted barrel signed 'WILLIAM HENRY FAIRFAX BIRMINGHAM', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, folding leaf rear-sight, plain cylinder numbered from '1' to '5' and engraved with a band on the front edge and a panel of engraved scrolls over each chamber, border and scroll engraved frame with inspection plate on the left side engraved 'WEBLEY'S PATENT' the top-tang marked 'BY HER MAJESTY'S ROYAL LETTERS PATENT', scroll engraved hammer, chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock (old repairs at head), iron heel-plate with engraved top-spur, rectangular silver escutcheon to wrist, scroll engraved flat-fronted trigger-guard, and Birmingham proof marks, finish remaining on frame and cylinder, barrel cleaned, missing rammer, retaining its Small Arms School Corps weapons collection identity disk
