AN ITALIANATE CIRCULAR ETCHED PARADE SHIELD,
possibly 17th century, approximately 25in. diameter, the front etched with alternating panels of floral scrolls with central bordered portrayals of people in period costume, separated by plain panels with floral borders, the centre with applied iron leaf spray (losses) and fitted with a square-section spike (re-attached, centre of shield with age-split), the reverse with traces of leather strapwork
