A RARE .451 PERCUSSION BREECH-LOADING SERVICE-RIFLE POSSIBLY FOR TRIALS, MODEL 'BENJAMIN'S PATENT', serial no. 714,
Belgian, circa 1863, with blued round 36in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, Belgian black powder proofs, unusual reverse lifting trap-door action withdrawing an obturated bolt and locking on a side-catch, the top stamped 'BENJAMIN BREVETTE' with the serial number, military style borderline engraved lock, Enfield style hammer, walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture, three brushed bright iron barrel bands and jag-ended ramrod
