A RARE 54-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER SIGNED 'A. HENRY', MODEL 'PRYSE & CASHMORE PATENT', serial no. 1245,
circa 1858, with octagonal 6in. barrel, shallow raised sighting rib with conical bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the top-strap signed 'A. HENRY, EDINBURGH PATENT NO 1245', the left side of barrel throat with a later stamped number '1132' (possibly a South African registration number), plain five-shot cylinder, two piece wedge frame with traces of scroll engraving and marked 'PATENT NO 1245' in a scroll on the right hand side, unusual sliding 'C' shaped safe on the right hand side behind standing breech, double action mechanism, one-piece semi saw-handled chequered walnut grip, heel-plate with lanyard boss and clipped corner rectangular escutcheon to back of grip, the whole worn with areas of shallow pitting
