circa 1855, with browned octagonal twist iron 30in. barrel with ball-starter ratchet rifled muzzle blending into conventional rifled bore, the top-flat signed 'WILKINSON & SON, GUNMAKERS TO HER MAJESTY, PALL MALL LONDON', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight with additional standing notch, colour hardened breech-block with moulded snail and vented platinum plug, finely engraved colour-hardened top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'WILKINSON & SON', blued sliding safe forwards of the scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammer, figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, blued iron furniture including spurred lower tang, double set triggers, horn fore-end tip and original mahogany brass mounted ramrod, the whole retaining much apparent original finish and appearing little used
