circa 1850, for a travelling pistol with approximately 4in. barrel, compartmented and lined in dark maroon velvet and retaining a period bag-shaped copper pistol-flask signed 'DIXON & SON SHEFFIELD', a tin of 'KYNOCH' percussion caps and a scissors ball-mould, the inner lid bearing a later label for 'WM. & JN. RIGBY', the outer lid with shrinkage split and inlaid white-metal escutcheon
