THE ONLY RECORDED PRE WORLD WAR ONE .22 BONEHILL COX'S PATENT BRITANNIA BREAK-BARREL AIR RIFLE, serial no. 1765,
circa 1910, with two stage 21in. barrel, dove-tailed front-sight, no provision for rear-sight, the top of breech marked 'COX'S PATENT' and 'C.G. BONEHILL SOLE MANUFACTURER', the side of breech stamped 'THE BRITANNIA' surrounding a seated figure of Britannia bisecting the legend 'REGD TRADE MARK', stirrup barrel locking latch marked 'PATENT', slanted air-chamber, the head with applied folding adjustable peep-sight numbered '1765', applied walnut comb, cocking link housing the trigger-unit stamped 'RD394207', retaining virtually all of an older refinish
Provenance: This air rifle was discussed in depth on page 63 of the periodical 'Airgun World' in the December 1980 issue and is the only known example in .22
