A GOOD .250 (ROOK) TOP-LEVER HAMMERLESS EJECTOR ROOK & RABBIT RIFLE, serial no. 42735,
circa 1900, with blued octagonal 26in. barrel, the machine engraved top-flat fitted with a dove-tailed fore-sight and a rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves, the left hand top-flat marked 'J. RIGBY & CO' and '.250', the opposite flat '72 ST. JAMES'S ST LONDON & DUBLIN', automatic ejection on opening, borderline and scroll engraved colour hardened rounded action, disk-set striker, safety lever to right hand side with the word 'SAFE' picked out in gold beneath, figured walnut chequered pistol-grip butt-stock, iron heel-plate and grip-cap and chequered walnut snap-on splinter fore-end with horn tip, much original finish to metalwork remaining
