late series 'V' circa 1868 with octagonal 6 1/2in. barrel signed on two lines 'MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK N.J.' over 'PATENTED MARCH 8 1864', applied crescent fore-sight, colour hardened open iron frame, blued six-shot cylinder engraved with five battle-scene panels framed by scrolls and marked 'PATENTED DEC. 27 1859', twelve locking notches, single-action mechanism, brass grip-straps with strong traces of silver plated finish and smooth flared walnut grips, good amount of finish remaining
