A GOOD CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION TRANTER'S PATENT TRIGGER-COCKING REVOLVER SIGNED R. JONES, LIVERPOOL, serial no. 4861T,
second model circa 1856, with blued 6 1/4in. octagonal barrel, engraved band at muzzle and scroll engraving at barrel-throat, dove-tailed beaded blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the rear of the border-engraved top-strap, the top-strap signed 'ROBERT JONES, No.3 GREAT HOWARD ST, LIVERPOOL' (possibly added later), borderline and scroll engraved blued frame, inverted 'Y' shaped safe-spring, colour-hardened borderline engraved five-shot cylinder (colour faded), Tranter's patent trigger cocking mechanism with spurless hammer, swept chequered walnut semi saw-handled grip with engraved and moulded iron cap, signed detachable rammer mounted to left side of barrel, strong amount of original finish throughout and together with its maker's walnut case with mahogany lid, lined and compartmented in green baize, complete with its matching number Tranter's Patent mould, a good condition Dixon bag-shaped flask, mahogany loading rod, Tranter's lubricating compound and bullets, oil bottle, turn-screw, nipple-key and Eley's Superior caps, all appearing little used, the inside of lid with Jones red parchment trade label
