circa 1835, with fully reeded turn-off 2in. iron barrels starred at the muzzle for a key, Birmingham proofs, borderline and scroll engraved boxlock actions with central hammers and flush folding automatic triggers, the top-tangs signed 'C. PIPER, CAMBRIDGE', smooth walnut bag-shaped butts inlaid with white metal vines and flowers, white metal lions-mask caps and traces of finish, in their mahogany storage-case lined and compartmented in purple velvet and including a small Dixon flask, scissors mould and later oil bottle
