A 12-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 1323,
for 1867 and a conversion from pinfire, 30 1/8in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (in 1992), 2 1/2in. chambers, approx. true cyl. in both, the rib engraved 'W.R. PAPE. NEWCASTLE ON TYNE WINNER OF THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1858, 1859 & 1866.', the breech ends with starburst engraving around the infilled pinfire apertures, Jones patent rotary-underlever, slim serpentine pinfire fences with starburst detailing, non-rebounding sidelocks with replacement centre-fire hammers, bold acanthus scroll engraving with beaded bordering, the lockplates with oval game scene vignettes of setters on point, blued hammers and furniture, the hand with a blank shield shaped escutcheon in a teardrop insert, 14in. figured stock including 1/2in. buttplate (chipped at toe), fore-end with crosspin release and ornate steel finial, weight 6lb. 12oz.
