A SCARCE 9mm PINFIRE CHAMELOT & DELVIGNE PATENT PAKTONG REVOLVER RETAILED BY JUAN LOPEZ, BUENOS AYRES, serial no. 2458,
circa 1870, with paktong octagonal 4 7/8in. sighted barrel, panels of arabesque scrolls to the top three flats at muzzle, further panels at barrel throat and support, the right side of barrel signed within a cartouche 'CHAMELOT & DELVIGNE' and 'IN'N / BTEE' (inventor and patentee), the top-flat signed 'JUAN LOPEZ BUENOS AYRES', brass plunge ejector (traces of silver plating), paktong six-shot cylinder with broad band of arabesque scrolls to the front half, on-suite engraved open paktong frame with distinctive loading gate to left hand side and off-set hammer, double action mechanism and finely chequered walnut grips with en-suite engraved straps and domed pommel
