A GOOD CASED .32 (RIMFIRE) SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 1/2 (OLD MODEL), RETAILED BY J.H. CRANE, LONDON, serial no. 19620,
circa 1867, with scarce octagonal 4in. barrel hinging upwards at rear, raised sighting rib with applied crescent fore-sight and signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS.' over 'PAT.D. APR. 3. JULY 5. 1859 & NOV 21. 1865', plain five-shot cylinder, period London proofs, plain frame with lower mounted cylinder stop, central hammer, spur trigger and smooth rosewood grips, the back-strap engraved 'J.H. CRANE, SOLE AGENT, 3 ROYAL EXCHANGE E.C.' (rubbed but legible), the whole well re-plated and refinished, in its pineboard case lined and compartmented in green baize and with 'J.H. Crane' parchment trade label (lid escutcheon absent)
