for 1900, 30in. nitro reproved barrels (loose on actions), the ribs engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 35, CARR'S LANE. BIRMINGHAM. SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', (rubbed) and gold-inlaid '1', '2' and '3' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke No.1 and 2, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke No.3, all wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, No.2 with some rusting to under rib, treble-grip actions, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, top straps gold-inlaid '1', '2' and '3', the fences carved in high relief with fine foliate designs on a stippled background, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, 15 3/8in. stocks including 1 1/4in. ebonite extensions, No.1 a replacement (small chip to right underhorn), No. 2 with additional 3/8in. wooden extension, insert repairs to fore-ends No.1 and No.3, weight 6lb. 5oz. (No.1), 6lb. 4oz. (No.2 and 3), in their brass-mounted oak and leather triple case with lift-out barrel tray
