circa 1855, with laminated browned octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 44in. barrel, bead fore-sight, moulded band at intersection, scroll and gamebird engraving to the breech-block together with twin yellow metal bands, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang with shallow sighting groove, borderline and scroll engraved back-action lock signed 'W. WOOD & SONS', en-suite dolphin headed hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including spurred lower tang, twin barrel keys with oval white metal escutcheons and brass tipped heavy duty mahogany ramrod, strong amount of period finish
