A 12-BORE HALL 1871 PATENT TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. '48',
circa 1875, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 2009), the rib engraved 'W.J. GALLYON. 66 BRIDGE STREET. CAMBRIDGE.' (faint), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. in both, action incorporating J. Hall barrel bolting design, patent no. 2396 of 12th September 1871, use number 48, carved percussion fences, rebounding bar-action sidelocks with ornately carved hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 1/4in. figured stock including horn buttplate, fore-end with Deeley & Edge release catch and marked 'PATENT', weight 6lb. 15oz.
