A CASED .230 (RIMFIRE) TRANTER'S 1863 PATENT POCKET REVOLVER RETAILED BY G.W. WEBB, OXFORD, serial no 10026,
circa 1865, with blued octagonal 2 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat engraved 'G.W. WEBB OXFORD', crescent fore-sight, Birmingham proofs, brass frame marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT' and the serial number on the left side of barrel throat, plain seven-shot cylinder with triple milled bands around the centre, hinged loading gate, exposed hammer and single-action spur trigger, fitted with smooth walnut grips and much faded finish throughout, in its retailer's wood case with burr walnut veneered lid and lined and compartmented in blue baize, twin lidded compartments and including a cleaning rod and turnscrew original to the revolver, parchment G. Webb trade label inside lid
