25in. nitro barrels with matt Churchill-ribs, tubes with pyramidal acanthus scroll designs at the breech ends and engraved 'A. BROWN. GUNMAKER. BIRMINGHAM. ENGLAND.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, A.A. Brown designed rounded scroll-back actions with replaceable hinge pins, incorporating A.A. Brown self-opening systems, toplevers gold-inlaid 'A.C.', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, rolled-edge triggerguards, profusely engraved with bold scrolling acanthus, with 'A. BROWN' in a flowing banner, the undersides with circular vignettes of pheasant and snipe, signed 'WAL HOWE', bright and blued finish overall, 14 1/2in. well-figured stocks, weight 6lb. 4oz., in their lightweight leather motor case with A.A. Brown gold-tooled label

Provenance: The guns were completed circa 1981 by Albert Brown and appear lightly used

Other Notes: Walter Howe, master gun engraver, had been chief engraver at Webley & Scott. Upon his retirement, he was awarded a Queens Award for services to gun engraving. He continued to engrave from home for A.A. Brown for some years after his 'retirement'.
