action incorporating Franz Jaeger 1906 patent 'kippblockverschluss' sprung breechblock, manual safety, set triggers, action flat signed 'Scheiring jun.', the whole carved in high relief with bold germanic scrollwork, the left sideplate depicting Diana, Goddess of hunting, with hounds and a stricken red stag her crescent moon highlighted in gold, signed 'G. STOGNER', on the right St. Hubertus, flanked by hunting hounds, crossbow in hand, kneeling in supplication to the Hubertus hirsch, the crucifix highlighted in gold, the underlever finely carved with a monogram, the top tang with a hive, old silver finish, 14 1/2in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock with slight hogsback comb, sculpted cheekpiece, sling swivels, sculpted horn pistolgrip-cap, fishscale chequering and including 1/2in. rubber recoil pad, weight 7lb. 8oz.
