circa 1810, with slightly shortened deeply rifled 8 1/2in. re-browned ribbon-twist damascus barrels signed in gilt along the top-rib 'ARMY CONTRACTOR EDINBURGH', silver fore-sight bead, twin gold lines at breech, fully engraved top-tang with sunken sighting channel, gilded touch-holes, flat, bevel-edged locks with engraved stepped tails, gold inlaid oval poincons signed 'HUNTER' forwards of the hammers, re-gilded rain-proof pans, adjustable frizzen-springs with roller-bearings, sliding safes behind the hammers, walnut half-stock with chequered bag-shaped butt, white metal oval escutcheon to the wrist, iron furniture including fleur-de-lys finial, en-suite ramrod throat and replacement iron ramrod (some cleaning and frosting to exposed iron surfaces)
