30in. nitro reproved barrels with rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL (rib engraving worn, left wall thickness below recommended minimum), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, arrow cocking indicators, later conversion to Boss improved patent single-trigger patent no. 11278 of 30th May 1905, rolled-edge triggerguard, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish, 14 1/2in. figured stock (ink enhanced, possible replacement), weight 6lb. 7oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case, the lid exterior marked 'W.H. SAVILL'
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in August 1904 for a Mr W.H. Savill with 30in. barrels
