A GOOD 1821 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD, no visible serial number,
circa 1825, with broad pipe-backed polished 35 1/2in. quill-point blade (minor spots of discolouring) and false edged for the last 9 3/4in., small etched rectangular panel approximately one third of the way along the blade on both sides featuring a William IV crest with floral motifs, the forte on the right hand side etched with 'HAWKES MOSELEY & SONS LONDON, MANUFACTURERS TO THE KING' together with a decorative band below and an arabesque above, iron three-bar half-basket hilt with turned down quillion, wire-bound sharkskin hilt with pronounced pommel and steel scabbard with twin loose suspension rings, the exposed iron surfaces covered with a varnish-type preservative
