PURDEY, 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET, LONDON', long tapering bead fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, a further broader vacant dove-tail also cut in the rib forwards of the rear-sight, engraved and platinum lines to breech with engraved rib-end, engraved platinum vents, fully scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'PURDEY' (traces of colour), the typical drum-based Purdey hammers with forward mounted sliding safes, chequered walnut half-stock (possibly expertly renewed in antiquity), engraved iron furniture including scroll engraved patch-box, chequered heel-plate and chequered pistol-grip spur to the lower tang, two ramrod thimbles, the rear drilled for a swivel arrangement, the front with rolled edges, ribbed ramrod stop and brass mounted ebony ramrod with capped worm end
