A .320 (RIMFIRE) TRANTER'S PATENT FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER RETAILED BY J. VENABLES & SON, OXFORD, serial no. 9147,
circa 1865, with blued octagonal 3 3/4in. barrel signed 'J. VENABLES & SON, ST ALDATES, OXFORD' along the top-flat, engraved band at muzzle, small applied crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the solid top-strap, plain blued cylinder with friction brake to the frame at front, side loading gate, double action mechanism with spurred hammer and guarded trigger, semi saw-handled chequered walnut grip and detachable ejector rod stored at heel, strong amount of finish remaining
