circa 1860, with tapering heavy blued 33in. barrel signed 'GEORGE GIBBS 29 CORN STREET BRISTOL', the short-rib at breech marked 'METFORD'S PATENT 52', dove-tailed block at muzzle for adjustable tunnel fore-sight (replaced), no provision for rear-sight, fully scroll engraved top-tang with dove-tail for vernier tang-sight (period replacement), replacement border and scroll engraved bar-action lock, highly figured chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock, gold heart-topped shield-shaped escutcheon to underside of butt, iron furniture including scroll engraved trigger-guard bow, tang and finial, horn fore-end tip and no provision for ramrod, much finish remaining
