A 6-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING-PIECE, serial no. 8685,
circa 1860, with heavy, round 48in. barrel, short sighting rib with engraved steeple point at breech, traces of a 'RIGBY, DUBLIN' signature, bead fore-sight, patent breech with twin platinum lines, engraved extra-long top-tang with carved sighting notch, border and scroll engraved back-action lock with traces of a 'W & J Rigby' signature, re-stocked with a plain straight-hand half-stock using the original iron furniture (original stock supplied), applied under-barrel rib (loose) and plain iron thimbles with probably associated ramrod (exposed iron surfaces with some shallow pitting)
