AN INTERESTING 11-BORE FLINTLOCK COLONIAL ISSUE MUSKET, MODEL 'INDIA PATTERN BROWN BESS', serial no. 2417,
dated for 1817, with plain 39in. barrel, block fore-sight, raised notch rear-sight at tang, Tower proofs, military style borderline engraved lock with crown device forward of the hammer (initials illegible), 'TOWER' signed to tail, auxilliary 'dog' safe behind hammer, walnut handrail three-quarter stock (much filled worm), the cheek of stock stamped with date and other marks, old working inlet repair to left side of fore-end, brass furniture, the spur of heelplate with the serial number and '7' over '53', the trigger guard tang stamped with a stylised arrow mark within a circle, the whole over the number '13', further rubbed stamps to the sideplate and provision for ramrod (missing)
