A CASED 15-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 1958 & 3928,
possibly converted by the maker's from an earlier ignition system such as tube-lock, with professionally rebrowned octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 30in. barrel numbered '1958' and signed on the top-flat 'WESTLEY RICHARDS, 170 NEW BOND ST, LONDON', shaped patent breech with twin platinum lines and vented plug, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved lock signed on the bar 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', sliding safe behind the engraved hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, raised cheek-piece, iron furniture including pistol grip spur to lower tang (numbered 3928) and original white metal mounted ebony ramrod, together with a period but unassociated oak storage case re-lined in felt and containing a pair of flasks with Britannia metal mounts, a period cap-tin and a later cleaning rod and cleaning sundries, a plaque on the lid engraved 'W.J.B. TIPPETTS, ESQ.'
