for 1869, 28in. black powder only bold damascus barrels with broad rib and Whitworth rifling, the rib engraved 'PATENT', 'WESTLEY RICHARDS' and '170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON WHITWORTH PATENT', open sights and four folding leaf sights with white metal sight lines and marked '50', '100', '150', '200' and '300', bead fore-sight, Westley Richards patent pivoting toplever snap action, patent no. 2623 of 22nd October 1864, slender standing breech with teardrop fences and broad striker pins, non-rebounding sidelocks with bolted dolphin hammers, bold acanthus scroll engraving, the triggerguard with a (rubbed) scene of a lion, 14 3/8in. pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, two piece pistolgrip with engraved steel pistolgrip-cap, steel buttplate, the fore-end meeting the stock in a crab joint (minor splitting), crosspin release (one crosspin escutcheon damaged), sling eyes, weight 10lb. 13oz.
