A 6-BORE PERCUSSION FOWLING PIECE SIGNED T. MONCK JUNIOR, STAMFORD, no visible serial number,
circa 1830, possibly converted from patchlock, with shortened 27 3/4in. octagonal to sixteen-sided to round browned laminate barrel, the top-flat at breech signed 'STAMFORD', bead fore-sight, engraved breech-block with triple gold bands, fully engraved top-tang, border and feathered scroll engraved bar-action lock signed in script 'T. MONCK JUN'R', dolphin head engraved hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture and heavy duty ebony ramrod
Provenance: A number of Thomas Moncks operated from Stamford in Lincolnshire between the years 1797-1857 with the 'junior' signature being used between 1827-1835. In 1860 the firm became Edward Monck and continued until 1868
