circa 1900, with reblued 23 1/4in. barrel, the left side of barrel marked variously near breech 'HENRY'S PATENT A&T 1887', the serial number and 'J.K.L' together with a later South African registration number, block and blade fore-sight, small carbine style ladder rear-sight, plain reblued receiver marked on the left 'V.R. BLAKEMORE, LONDON' above 'SWINBURN'S PATENT', cocking/de-cocking lever to right side, polished feed-ramp, chequered walnut butt-stock, iron furniture including heel-plate originally equipped with a central trap (now filled), under-lever for loading and cocking, chequered walnut three-quarter length fore-end with horn tip, eyelets for a sling and bayonet lug at muzzle
