A FASCINATING LEATHER-BOUND ORDER LEDGER ENTITLED 'JOURNAL G' WITH ENTRIES FROM 1862 - 1883, with additional items,
measuring approx. 17 1/2in. x 12in. x 2 3/4in., hand-written ledger recording orders to both public and trade across the world, the first entry for a total of 8 pairs of pistols for 'Baker, Brooks & Goudie' of 34 Livery St. Birmingham, dated August 18, 1862, the final entry for John Graham & Son, 21 Ludgate Hill, dated December 8th 1883 and for several guns and pistols.
The ledger dating to the crossover period of muzzle-loading to breech loading, with earlier entries specifying which form of ignition system required.
The ledger records a wide variety of orders of guns, pistols, accessories and military supplies, Dec. 5th 1872 listing an order for 'Robert J Moseley Commanding 13th Regt. A.C. Benares' for :
17 Officers Rich Crimson Silk Sashes, as before
2 White enamelled leather sword belts, as before
1 pair soldiers ammunition boots, sewn, tipped heels, as sample
packing box 4, carriage to London'
immediately followed by an order for John Hall & Son, 23 Lombard Street, London for:

300 African birding Guns, vermillion colour stocks 22 bore

together with three Joseph Bourne catalogues (July 1912, July 1932, Autumn & Winter 1935-1936) and a glazed and framed shop poster 'Sold Here JOSEPH BOURNE'S SINGLE & DOUBLE GUNS - BARRELS BORED TO SHOOT CLOSE AND STRONG AND WARRANTED SAFE'
Other Notes: First listed at 5 Whittall Street, Birmingham in 1949, the firm would acquire other notable makers and suppliers - James Bott & Son in 1903, Walter Edwards (gunmaker) in 1907, Robert Hughes & Sons, Universal Fire Arms Works, Moland Street, Birmingham, Makers of Sporting and Military Fire Arms, Contractors to the British Government, in 1908.
The company is listed at various Birmingham addresses until 1953
