A .451 PERCUSSION MATCH RIFLE, serial no. 1685 (originally 4344), with later spare barrel,
the rifle made 12th March 1878, patent use number '3351', with round tapering 34in. barrel signed 'ALEX'R HENRY EDINBURGH AND LONDON PATENT No. 3351' together with a Farsi inscription partially struck-out, micro adjustable tunnel fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, short sighting rib at breech engraved with two bands, border engraved colour hardened top-tang fitted with a vernier rear-sight, border engraved colour hardened bar-action lock signed 'ALEX'R HENRY', border engraved hammer with foward-facing bolted safe, chequered walnut half-stock with semi saw-handled capped grip, chequered iron heel-plate, blued furniture (serial number struck-out on trigger-guard tang), fair traces of finish remaining and together with a later .451 33 3/4in un-breeched Henry rifled barrel numbered 4344, also fitted with a tunnel fore-sight and signed in a similar manner


Provenance: According to Donald Dallas's reference work 'Alexander Henry - Rifle Maker', this rifle was one of a batch of six best quality match rifles completed on the same date, purchaser unknown
