A CASED PAIR OF 30-BORE PERCUSSION TRAVELLING PISTOLS SIGNED FISHENDEN, TUNBRIDGE, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1845, with octagonal laminated 6 3/4in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'FISHENDEN TUNBRIDGE', dove-tailed blade fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, colour hardened breech-blocks with platinum lines and vented plugs, colour hardened engraved top-tangs, borderline and scroll engraved curved back-action locks signed 'FISHENDEN' (one hammer spur lacking), walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped grips, small oval trigger-guards and captive iron rammers, strong traces of finish remaining and in their maker's mahogany casing with flush-fitting rectangular handle within a bow-tie escutcheon, the interior with green baize lining (some compartments lacking) and including a period flask, mould and loading rod
