circa 1920, 28in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2001), sunken rib engraved 'J.T. HARTWELL. 5. WEST CHAPEL ST. MAYFAIR. LONDON. W.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, right wall at 17, scroll-back action with deeply carved fences of acanthus leaves on a matted background, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with beaded bordering and floral bouquets, bright and blued finish, 14 7/8in. figured stock including 2 3/4in. wooden extension and 7/8in. recoil pad, oval escutcheon engraved 'A.G. FROM D.C.A. 1924', weight 5lb. 6oz.
