A RARE 52-BORE PERCUSSION TURN-OVER POCKET PISTOL, serial no. '70',
probably bought in for retail circa 1835, the number stamped in the wood only, with blued round 1 3/16in. turn-off barrels false rifled for a splined key (absent), borderline engraved muzzles and turn-over breech, London proofs, borderline engraved action with border engraved panels to each side, the left signed 'PURDEY', the right 'LONDON', central hammer with top-tang safe, concealed automatic trigger, finely chequered walnut grip with small white metal oval escutcheon at wrist and domed iron pommel-cap with central trap, some shallow pitting to exposed iron surfaces
