circa 1863, with octagonal 8in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'E REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NEW-YORK U.S.A' over 'NEW MODEL' and below patent details to September 1858, missing fore-sight, solid frame with sighting groove to top-strap, plain six-shot cylinder, single action mechanism with brass trigger guard and smooth flared walnut grips, the left bearing a clear martial cartouche and in a period full-flap leather holster of Union style marked 'MADE BY J.T. PITTMAN N-Y' (sound but closure tab incomplete)
