circa 1790, with darkly stained 32in. barrel, the underside near breech marked with the serial number, the maker's mark 'HN' for Henry Nock and 'NOCK PATENT' on the underside of breech-block, bead fore-sight, needle with starburst engraved to the breech-end, a gold oval poincon inlet to breech-block marked 'H. NOCK, LONDON', broad gold band at breech (touch-hole lining absent), fully engraved standing breech and top-tang, plain flat bevel-edged lock with narrow moulded border, stepped and pointed tail, rainproof pan with an inlet gold poincon below signed 'H. NOCK', roller frizzen, swan-necked cock, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture, two barrel keys each with white metal oval escutcheons and under-rib with twin rolled end thimbles, lacking ramrod
