A .577 / .500 NO.2 EXPRESS BLACK POWDER 'LIST 412' FACILE PRINCEPS NON-EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE, serial no. 34436,
28in. Greener trade mark damascus barrels, raised matt rib with open sights and two folding leaf sights for 100, 200 and 300 yards with inlaid sight lines, bead fore-sight, the breech end engraved 'PATENT TREBLE WEDGE FAST' in an oval and with a cartouche engraved 'W. W. GREENER. HAYMARKET. LONDON.', scroll-back treble-grip action with carved serpentine fences, manual side safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' and arrow detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with central floral bouquets, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 3/8in. well-figured pistolgrip stock with steel pistolgrip-cap, sling eye and including engraved steel buttplate, crack at toe, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch, weight 8lb. 13oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was started on the 8th June 1892 and completed on 6th April 1894 as a 'best quality non-ejector rifle, one grade down from the 'Royal'' and that the engraving was executed by Dinely. It was sold for 45 guineas
