Provenance: Webley revolver MKII serial no. 58870 was originally sold as part of a larger order to the Royal Navy around 1897. In late 1914 or early 1915 a large number of MKI's and MKII's which the Navy had on hand were returned to the factory for up-grading and reconditioning, generally to make sure they were safe to shoot smokeless cartridges. There they were fitted with a 6in. barrel, the MKV type larger diameter cylinder and marked with two stars. They are usually encountered with a ordnance type black refinish.
Other Notes: We are greatly indebted to www.armsresearch.co.uk for the information concerning the date and history of the revolver
