28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved in gothic script 'JNO. RIGBY & CO. 72. ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. & AT DUBLIN', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, treble-grip action with removable striker discs, action number 2403, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, dipped-edge lockplates, bold acanthus scroll engraving with feathered and beaded borders, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 15in. well-figured stock (grain separation at hand - no evident movement) including 3/4in. wooden extension, fore-end with ejector / non-ejector selector nut, grip-catch fore-end release lever engraved 'RIGBY'S PATENT', repairs to wood at knuckle, weight 6lb. 7oz., in a lightweight leather case with William Evans trade label
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed 1896 as a 'Class B ejector' with 30in. barrels for Capt. S. Cantfield.
