A RARE .44 (EVANS) 'TRANSITION SPORTER' REPEATING LEVER-ACTION SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 1927,
for 1876-77, with blued octagonal 26in. barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, fixed notch rear-sight with folding ladder (slider a good replacement), moulded blued receiver formed in two halves with integral magazine housing in the butt, applied walnut comb and heel, rear loading gate in the crescent heel-plate, re-curved under-lever forming the trigger guard and smooth splinter walnut fore-end with iron nose-cap, the whole retaining much original finish
