A 12-BORE TOPLEVER HAMMER PIGEON GUN, serial no. 1549,
circa 1910, 29 9/16in. (75cm) nitro reproved (in 2003) Whitworth-steel barrels with raised tapered file cut rib and large brass bead fore-sight, bands of engraving at the breech ends, the tubes engraved in script 'L. BRANCQUAERT. BRUXELLES. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTHS FLUID PRESSED STEEL' (sic), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and full choke, some minor pits, large treble-grip action with hidden third bite, side-clips and ovate standing breech, carved percussion fences, articulated front trigger, rebounding sidelocks with low spurred hammers, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the underside with the maker's name, brushed and blued finish, 14 5/8in. figured stock (cast on for the left shoulder) including 5/8in. recoil pad, weight 7lb. 5oz., in a brass-cornered leather case
