A SCARCE, LIGHTWEIGHT 12-BORE (2IN.) SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 3570, with additional 12-bore (2 1/2in.) barrels,
for 1935, original 27 1/2in. nitro barrels gold-inlaid '1' and 'FOR 2 INCH CASES ONLY' on rib, the tubes engraved 'C.S. ROSSON & CO. RAMPANT HORSE STREET. NORWICH', 2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, extra 30in. nitro barrels, the rib engraved 'NEW BARRELS BY W. PALMER-JONES. 25. WHITTALL STREET. BIRMINGHAM.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, slender action with removable striker discs, fences carved in high relief with leaf motifs on a finely stippled background, the toplever gold-inlaid '1' and engraved with a partridge, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, Edwin Smith self-opening system, patent no. 372035 of 19th March 1931, rolled-edge triggerguard, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets and beaded bordering, the underside with a brace of partridge, the triggerguard with a portrait of a gundog, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, the triggerguard tang gold-inlaid with the serial number, 14 1/8in. stock with diamond grip and including 3/4in. recoil pad, the fore-end iron with ornate border engraving to the underside, weight 5lb. 7oz. (original) and 5lb. 10oz. (extra), in a lightweight leather case with provision for both sets of barrels and C.S. Rosson & Co. trade label
