circa 1860 and possibly the work of Francotte, Liege, with blued octagonal 4in. barrel, scroll engraving to the breech sides with detail and the serial number highlighted in gilt, border and scroll engraved top-strap signed in gold 'IMPERIAL PATENT REVOLVER', plain blued five-shot cylinder with engraved border to the leading edge, the serial number also inlaid in gold, gilt highlighted scroll engraved two-piece frame with safe spring mounted to the left hand side, extraordinary bulbous carved ebony grip with carved ivory and ebony butt-cap, the back-strap and trigger-guard bow en-suite with the frame, much original finish remaining throughout; TOGETHER WITH its presentation walnut case, compartmented and lined in the continental style in red velvet and containing a full suite of accessories including a silver-plated bullet mould, two spare decorated cylinders, a diminutive flask, wad punch and loading rods
