A RARE .56-50 (RIMFIRE) SPENCER MODEL 1867 REPEATING CARBINE, CIRCA 1868, serial no. 102707,
with 20in. barrel rifled with six grooves, block and blade front-sight and ladder rear-sight, the breech stamped 'SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE / PAT'D. MARCH 6, 1860', action socket bearing the serial number, plain unmarked back-action lock (pitted and cleaned) with side hammer, two piece iron mounted walnut stock, the butt housing the seven round tubular magazine, half length fore-end with a single spring retained barrel band, stock refinished, barrel and action with some corrosion
Provenance: The Spencer Model 1867 featured a few minor differences over the earlier models, it is estimated that approx. 7000 were made, due to limited demand in America after the Civil War many of these later Spencers ended up in France during the Franco Prussian War
