A .56-52 (RIMFIRE) MODEL 1864 JOSLYN BREECH-LOADING CARBINE OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR, serial no 10455,
dated for 1864, with round tapering 22in. barrel, blade fore-sight, folding leaf rear-sight, pivoting breech-block marked on the rear face 'B.F. JOSLYN'S PATENT, OCTOBER 8TH 1861 JUNE 24TH 1862' and drilled with vent-hole, bar-action lock marked 'JOSLYN FIRE ARMS CO STONINGTON CONN.' and the date '1864', saddle-ring and bar to the left hand side and walnut half-stock (cracked through and well repaired behind lock) and fitted with iron furniture
