mid to late 18th century, with 33 3/4in. octagonal, swamped, sighted barrel marked 'I.M' at the breech on opposing flats, yellow-metal inlaid poincon makers mark and rose-head stamp to the top flat near breech, dovetailed steel blade foresight, fixed, standing leaf rearsight with carved floral 'finial' plain irregular sideplated internal wheel-lock mechanism, pan with hinged rain-guard stamped with the letters 'M.Z.' and automatic pan cover, solid-faced hammer with extended serpentine cocking-piece, external cock-spring, classic, triangular section walnut full-stock (repaired cracks at head and heel) with stained small circular wood inlay to the cheek-piece, sliding wooden-lidded patchbox to the right hand side with oval horn inlay, butt-stock weighted with lead, horn heel-plate with steel shoulder button, sheet-iron finger-grooved trigger guard with leaf-shaped rear tang, 'hogs-bristle' trigger (tip missing) with rear set, horn side nail escutcheons and ramrod throat, bone forend tip, iron swivels, bone-mounted, possibly original ramrod (iron surfaces polished and brushed bright, losses to detail and decoration) and later leather sling
