Literature: For further information on the Pattern 18 rifles please see Ian Skennertons "The Lee-Enfield. A Century of Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines." Pages 285-287

Other Notes: The .22-inch Short Rifle Pattern 1918, was approved on 10th July 1918 and is unique in that the bore is .22-inch but the chamber is for the .303-inch cartridge. This is because a conveyor and dummy cartridge like the .303 is used, chambered and bored for the .22 rimfire round. This enables the charger-loader and magazine to be used in an identical manner the service 303 rifle
